Gabriela Albuquerque is a Brazilian visual artist based in Lisbon, Portugal.
Since 2014, she has lived between different geographies and cultures, an experience that informs her artistic research. Her practice moves between painting, drawing, photography, video, and writing, investigating themes such as memory, belonging, landscape, and the multiple ways of inhabiting the contemporary world.
In her works, reality, memory, and imagination intertwine, creating visual narratives that explore the relationships between territory, displacement, and identity.
Graduated in Literature from the University of São Paulo (USP) and in Art Criticism and Curatorship from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), she studied visual arts in the United States and Portugal, where she currently lives and develops her artistic practice.
She is a co-founder of Coletivo Amarelo, an independent space dedicated to contemporary art in Lisbon.
